What is Mindfulness Based Art Therapy?

MBAT combines the benefits of mindfulness with the structure of art therapy. It is a way of creating something to express how you feel, or to make you realise how you truly feel. 


Ways to try MBAT:

  • Draw a picture of yourself
  • Before and after art - create something when you feel a certain way, Maybe angry or sad. Then wait until the feeling has passed and recreate the artwork from before. Embrace the differences in what you have created.
  • Use art to express your emotions. Don’t think, just create.
  • Create a collage using a mix of materials.
